Going to my first concert alone

Ever since I started living in Ahmedabad, I’ve wanted to go to a concert. But concerts are a group activity and none of my friends seem to take interest in spending colossal amount of money as they say ๐Ÿ˜, to listen to someone they don’t like that much. But when I saw that my favourite singers ( Farhan Akhtar and Shankar-Eshaan- Loy) were doing a concert together I decided, this is it. No more holding back because of others lack of interest. Nothing’s stopping me. I’m going to this concert alone.

Well technically, I can’t say I went all alone. My parents joined me. However, taking your parents to a Farhan Akhtar concert in India is equivalent to taking your parents to a rock concert. It’s as good as alone.

But having experienced it all, I can safely say, it’s not a bad idea. I soon realized that most people at the concert appreciate the same type of music that I like. All our excitement level totally matched. And with some courage and a lot of deep breaths ๐Ÿ˜…(I was extremely anxious to go and talk), I even made few friends with whom I enjoyed the concert. We sang every song together, danced hard๐Ÿ‘ฏ and by the end it didn’t even feel like I was alone. I didn’t want it to end. Sure my throat and body ache as hell but it was all worth it๐Ÿ‘.

It may sound silly but I feel a great sense of achievement in doing so. It’s extremely hard to actually go to concerts or movies alone, especially when everyone comes with a company.ย I, however think it’s better to go alone and enjoy a concert with like-minded people then to drag your friends who seem to not be interested. Because their low energy will most certainly stop you from having fun too. It’s important to try new things and push yourself to extremes to actually feel happy. Had I not decided to do this, a sense of regret would have made a permanent house my mind forever.

People have varied interests. I realize it now that I can’t change that. But, rather than being angry at life for not giving me friends that don’t share my interests or sit at home and miss out on things that excite me, it’s better to take a chance. There was a 50 % chance for my concert experience to be the worst, but had I not gone at all, I would’ve been 100% miserable.

  2. I went to Arijit Singhโ€™s concert 2 months back with my cousin. And that was my first concert ever. Iโ€™ve been wanting to go to concerts but yeah, I was always short of company. When my cousin asked if I wanted to join her I immediately jumped on the opportunity and said yes! ๐Ÿ˜›
